Collection: Brook trout
Brook trout belongs to the Salmonidae family. It has many other names, such as mud trout, squaretail, brook char, and others. The brook trout is a dark green to brown colour, with a distinctive marbling pattern across the flanks and back in lighter tones that extends to the dorsal fin and frequently to the tail (called vermiculation). A characteristic scattering of red dots with blue haloes along the sides appears. This species has a red abdomen, light and red speckles all over its body, and dark scales. In spawning males, this coloring grows brighter. Size depends on the individual and the region. These fish typically weigh between 1 and 6 lbs. and range in length from 10 to 26 inches.
