Collection: Yellow perch

Yellow perch is popular fish in Canada. There are few common names for the yellow perch (Perca flavescens) such as Perch, Striped perch, and American perch. Preacher, also known as American river perch, is a species of freshwater perciform fish that is indigenous to much of North America. The yellow perch has an oval, elongated body and a blunt snout that doesn't extend past the bottom of the lower jaw. It has two distinct dorsal fins, like most perches. The second dorsal fin has 2-3 spines in its anterior region, followed by 12–13 soft rays, whereas the anterior, or first, dorsal fin has 12–14 spines. The anal fin has 7-8 soft rays and 2 spines. The upper part of the body and head has bright green, olive green, and golden-brown colours. Typically, the yellow colour is common.
